GlucIQ shows insulin math as transparent context — never as dosing instructions.
What GlucIQ Shows
When you log a meal, GlucIQ can display:
- Estimated carbs from the meal scan
- Your insulin-to-carb ratio (configured by you or your clinician)
- The resulting calculation as a formula breakdown
This is shown as a formula — for example: 54g carbs ÷ 10 I:C ratio = 5.4 units — so you can see the math your clinician would walk through.
What GlucIQ Does NOT Do
- GlucIQ does not recommend doses
- GlucIQ does not auto-adjust ratios
- GlucIQ does not account for insulin on board (IOB)
- GlucIQ does not replace a pump or dosing calculator approved by your care team
Configuration
In Settings, you can enter:
- Insulin-to-carb ratio (e.g., 1:10, 1:12)
- Correction factor (e.g., 1 unit per 50 mg/dL)
- Target glucose for correction context
These values should come from your clinician. GlucIQ stores them locally and uses them only for display purposes.
Why Show the Math?
Many people with diabetes do mental insulin math every meal. GlucIQ makes that process visible and reviewable, which helps in:
- Conversations with your clinician about ratio adjustments
- Reviewing whether carb estimates were accurate after seeing the glucose response
- Learning how different meals translate to insulin context
